Russian River Brewing started at the Korbel Winery. They released four brews in six-packs, all of them very tasty. Korbel eventually sold the brand to their brewer, Vinnie Cilurzo (of Blind Pig Brewing fame), who opened a brewery and restaurant in downtown Santa Rosa. Corey actually got to meet him the first time he dropped by the new brewery, and he hooked Corey up with their first two labels, Damnation and Sanctification. Now that Vinnie has taken over the brand, they no longer sell the six-packs, but produce a much more interesting line-up of brews, using wine barrels and crazy sour yeasts. The brewery has a room with a glass wall, that's filled with brews aging in different kinds of oak barrels. They have a great selection of brews on tap, including the Russian River IPA, and Blind Pig IPA, which are both fantastic. And their food is pretty tasty too. This is a brewery that we highly recommend.
