Anchor is a distinctive brewery with a small yet very yummy set of beers and a rich history. Their flagship brew, Anchor Steam, is a unique "Steam Beer" that is delicious and unlike any others. It's an Ale that is brewed like a Lager, yielding characteristics of both. Truly outstanding. And let's not forget their Old Foggy Barleywine, which is one of the very best barleywines out there.
Unfortunately, one strike against Anchor is that they don't have an easily accessible brewery. If you're in the Bay Area, you need to call weeks in advance to schedule, and even then it's just a brewery (no restaurant or bar). Better to check out the
